Boston Group Announces Continued Support of AICP Manx State of the Nation Conference

by isleofman.com 22nd January 2013

Independent privately owned financial services provider, Boston Group, has announced its continued support of the annual Manx State of the Nation conference hosted at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club on the 25th January by the Alliance of Isle of Man Compliance Professionals (“AICP”). This year marks the fifth in which Boston has been involved through its sponsorship and attendance by senior managers and directors at this popular event. To demonstrate Boston Group’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of this constantly evolving industry, Group CEO Greg Ellison will also be joining the afternoon session’s key note panel of speakers to discuss how current and future regulatory issues will impact on the Island’s economic future.

The AICP was established in 2010 by three leading Compliance professionals to provide a thriving network and representation for Compliance, Risk and Corporate Governance professionals on the Island. From small beginnings, its membership continues to grow such that the AICP now provides strong representation to the Isle of Man Government and regulatory authorities, to ensure the promotion of the highest standards of compliance and governance on the Isle of Man. In addition to these responsibilities, the AICP also provides information upon obtaining and maintaining appropriate professional qualifications and an open forum for members and non-members alike via a series of topical breakfast seminars held throughout the year.

The Manx State of the Nation conference has become one of the key conferences of the corporate calendar to discuss the Island’s dynamic financial landscape and its compliance implications with a choice selection of speakers and delegates, including Government representatives and key industry stakeholders. Boston continues to play a pivotal role in the event through its sponsorship of the afternoon sessions. The key note panel session which will include senior government ministers and industry figures will discuss the “weather forecast” for the Island’s financial services sector, an area in which Greg hopes to offer a wealth of expertise in private wealth management, operations and corporate banking.

Commenting on the day’s events, Greg stated: “This year marks an important stage in Boston Group’s continued engagement with the AICP and the vital role it plays in raising the profile of Isle of Man compliance professionals. I am very proud to be given the opportunity to become part of this admirable forum, which provides our industry with a platform upon which to hold an open and honest discussion of industry tidings and their impact upon the local financial landscape and that of further afield. I urge those within the Island’s finance, gaming and legal professions who have not done so already to consider the AICP and welcome any questions or queries concerning its important work.”

James Shimmin, Boston Group’s Compliance Officer, MLRO, and Financial Director of the AICP, also commented: “The compliance industry on the Isle of Man has played a vital role in  establishing  and maintaining our international reputation as a jurisdiction of unparalleled regulatory integrity and financial stability. These high standards can be attributed largely to the ease with which the private sector can engage with public bodies such as industry regulators and Government to ensure that legislation and its interpretation allows IOM plc the ‘freedom to flourish’. The AICP is proud to be a part of this process through this year’s conference and I look forward to working closely with our membership as well as our fellow industry bodies, regulators and Government in the coming year.”

The AICP 2013 conference will take place at the Mount Murray Hotel and Country Club on Friday 25th January. For more information, contact the AICP on 07624 390 892 or visit www.aicp.im.
