Snow causes problems for motorists

by isleofman.com 4th March 2006
The weather caused problems for drivers and decimated the regular Saturday sporting programme. Gritters were out from 7.00am on the major routes. The Mountain Road remained closed and police said while most other roads were passable with extreme caution, drivers should not venture out unless they had to. As children made snowmen and enjoyed snowball fights vehicles were abandoned at icy spots where driving proved too difficult or dangerous. Engineering Works Manager for the Department of Transport, Geoff Walmsley, said the gritters and snow ploughs had been hard at it (audio file attached): (Picture: Fun in the snow!).
