Ramsey man jailed for drink driving

by isleofman.com 4th March 2006
A 26 year-old man has been jailed by the High Bailiff for drink driving and failing to provide breath samples. Samuel Crowe, of Queens Drive West, Ramsey, admitted both offences. The defendant was arrested in Queen's Drive West at 12.10am on February 24 after police had seen him leave Market Square in Ramsey, driving a van slowly and carefully. On speaking to the defendant, they noticed a smell of article alcohol and his speech was slurred. At police headquarters, Crowe, who was very polite, refused all requests for samples. At Douglas courthouse (pictured), Mr Montgomery said the message had to go out that people who, for no good reason, refused to provide samples will go prison. He jailed Crowe for 25 days and banned him from driving for three years.
