The Solway Harvester may be moved from it's current site prior to the TT festival.
The wreck of the vessel has been visible in Douglas Harbour (pictured) for several years, since it was raised from the seabed following the tragic sinking in January 2000.
Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin said his department was responsible for ensuring the vessel was protected as an exhibit on behalf of the Coroner, and would continue in this role until advised that all matters pertaining to vessel were completed.
He said that after extensive discussions with relevant authorities, it had been decided the current location was the best available, albeit far from ideal.
He added that it was not realistic to cover the boat, but if the coroner had not resolved the matter by the start of TT fortnight he would have further discussions with the Department of Transport to see if it could be relocated elsewhere.
