Burns fined

A 21 year old man who used threatening, abusive or insulting words and behaviour and resisted a police officer in the execution of his duty has been fined a total of ?550 by magistrates.

Terence Gordon Burns of Willaston Crescent, Douglas, admitted both offences, committed outside Colours Nightclub on February 11th.

The defendant was seen by police at 3am shouting abuse at security staff.

He refused to leave and following his arrest Burns kicked Constable Breadner whilst he was being escorted to a police van. There was a struggle during which Constable Breadner sustained cuts and swelling to his forehead.

The defendant's advocate said that he had been drinking since 2pm the previous day when he'd been at his sister's wedding.

He was extremely sorry and apologised.
