The Island could be heading for an all-out ban on smoking in public buildings following a six hour sitting of the House of Keys.
Members were considering the clauses of the Public Health Tobacco Bill and the emphasis was on the public health aspect of the legislation.

All attempts by backbenchers to introduce provisions to allow parts of premises to fall outside the no-smoking status failed to attract majority support.
The move to make limited provision for smokers was led by Brenda Cannell who urged the DHSS to examine a new atmospheric processing device which claims to remove 98.9% of carcinogens from tobacco smoke.
However Mrs Cannell's amendment to require smoking rooms to be permitted lost by 14 votes to four.
The mover of the Bill, Health Minister Steve Rodan, urged members to disregard moves to include exemptions and variations at this stage because these follow regulations to be formulated by the Department of Local Government after the widest possible consultation.
