A Manx politician opposed to the ban on smoking in public places, is continuing to urge the government to consider allowing exemptions.
East Douglas MHK Brenda Cannell says the ban is simply not fair on the 30% of the population - some 18,000 residents - who choose to smoke.
And she claims the introduction of 'air washing' technology in pubs and clubs would minimise the dangers for non-smokers.
Mrs Cannell (pictured) says the Island is aligning itself with the most stringent measures, adopted by only three countries in Europe - the United Kingdom, Ireland and Norway.
