ID cards debated

The Isle of Man may have no choice but to impose an identity card scheme - if the United Kingdom goes ahead with the idea.

A government working group has been tasked to assess whether national I.D cards are needed here - and how they would work.

Issues surrounding the cards were discussed by the Isle of Man Freethinkers at the weekend - after a talk by Director of Policy at the Chief Secretary's Office Jon Callister (pictured).

He says Manx I.D cards are not a foregone conclusion - but in the end, the Island may have no choice but to follow our more powerful neighbours:
