Public in favour of smoking ban

The majority of the Manx public are backing government efforts to have smoking banned in public places..

That from Health Minister Steve Rodan who says 92% of households and businesses questioned in a recent survey were in favour of controls.

And Mr rodan is stressing the bill is not aimed at banning smoking - but at protecting non-smokers from second hand smoke.

On Agenda this evening he defended the decision NOT to allow an exemption for private clubs - however select - as members of the public would be affected:
