Police had received a call that the driver of a car being driven from Ramsey to Douglas might have been drinking.
Police saw the defendant get out of his car and stagger towards the public house.
His alcohol reading was 270 milligrammes. The legal limit is 80.
His advocate told the court the defendant was severely depressed and had gone to Ramsey to get away from it all. Mr Moyle said he regretted there were no grounds for a suspended sentence, but it was a very serious offence.
He also banned Wilson from driving for three years.
