The swimmers were also in action on Day One with Emily Crookhall-Nixon winning Heat 2 of the 50 metres Butterfly with a personal best time. That put her 23rd out of 35. She was also 13th in the 200m individual medley.
13 year old Olivia Rawlinson was 14th in that event and was 22nd in the women's freestyle.
Dane Harrop was marginally slower than his qualification time in the 50m mens backstroke finishing 8th in his heat.
In gymnastics, Alex Hedges competed in the afternoon session with 17 others. He was 9th in the pommel horse and the floor exercise, 10th on the horizontal bars, 13th on the parallel bars and vault and 14th on the rings.
