Stranded in Norway

A Castletown pensioner and her family have been left stranded in Norway after she suffered a serious accident.

75 year old Betty Callister was on holiday when she broke her hip in a fall and went into hospital believing she was fully covered by Jersey-based Blue Swan Insurance.

But according to Jersey’s Financial Services Commission, the company hasn’t been authorised to issue new policies since November last year.

Eddy Hudson is Betty’s son-in-law, who’s also in Norway, says she’s still very poorly and upset after spending ten unplanned days away from home in a country where she can’t understand the language:
