Civil Service pensions

by isleofman.com 17th March 2006
Civil Service Pensions come under scrutiny in Tynwald on Tuesday when Peel MHK Hazel Hannan (pictured) quizzes senior government members on the issue.

She has three questions about the government’s superannuation scheme.

Jason Roberts reports:

Mrs Hannan will first ask Chief Minister Donald Gelling whether the government is concerned that no action’s been taken to sort out pensions for civil servants.

She’ll then ask Treasury Minister Allan Bell whether his recent budget contains provisions to settle the scheme’s problems and if he’s worried the scheme hasn’t been returned for consideration.

Her final question will be put to the chair of the Civil Service Commission John Houghton.

She’ll ask if – after two schemes were withdrawn – he’ll introduce a new scheme before November this year.
