The Isle of Man has struck gold at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Cyclist Mark Cavendish won the 80 lap scratch race in the Velodrome to take the Island's first gold medal in cycling since 1966, when Peter Buckley won the men's' road race in Jamaica.
In a thrilling race 20 year old Cavendish was given a perfect lead out in the final stages by England's Rob Hayles to sprint to the finish ahead of Australia's Ashley Hutchinson.
His winning time was 23 minutes, 5.4 seconds
Scotland's James McCullum came in third.
After winning, a jubilant Cavendish grabbed a Manx flag from the crowd and cycled round the track waving it above his head.
He then mounted the podium to receive his medal and hear the Manx National Anthem.
