Business Manx

by isleofman.com 20th March 2006
Isle of Man businesses can do their bit to help ensure the survival of Manx Gaelic.

That is the message from the Manx Heritage Foundation, which has today launched its latest drive to encourage more of us to use Manx words and phrases.

A booklet and CD are on offer to help local firms use and promote the languagre among their staff and customers.

Marian Kenny reports:

(Text of attached audio)
The Manx language has been successfully revived in recent years and according to the Heritage Foundation, is a great cultural asset for the Island

With recent advances in teaching Manx in schools, its hoped businesses will consider using it too in appropriate ways - be that on signs and letterheads, in e mails and faxes or in speech.

The guide includes suggestions on how firms can use Manx while the CD contains Manx phrases suitable for different occasions.

They have been produced with the support of Cain's Advocates - who joined Speaker of the House of Keys Tony Brown today, to launch the new campaign Manx for Business or Gaelg son Dellal.

The free guide will be distributed around the Island or copes can be obtained from Adrian Cain (pictured) at the Heritage Foundation.
