Public joy at gold medal

The Isle of Man has put its name on the map after winning its first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games for twenty years.

The last CYCLING gold medal was in 1966, forty years ago.

In a thrilling race 20 year old Mark Cavendish was given a perfect lead out in the final stages by England's Rob Hayles to sprint to the finish.

All three of the Isle of Man team riders in the event finished in the top ten, Jonathan Bellis came in sixth and Mark Kelly finished eighth.

it's no surprise these members of the Manx public are delighted:
