No major UK Budget changes for the island

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2006
The Island appear to have escaped any major changes in Gordon Brown's 10th Budget so far.

There's no change in Air Passenger Tax, and no plans to bring in VAT on items such as food, newspapers, children's clothes and food.

Cigarettes are going up with inflation and beer by a penny a pint but no increase on spirits or champagne.

In the UK the Government is to carry out what it terms a radical reform on vehicle excise duty, to encourage less polluting fuels.

Cars with the lowest emissions will have a zero rate of duty and fifty percent are to have their duty frozen or reduced. Its to underline Britain's commitment to cutting carbon emissions.
