Police attended the defendant's home at the request of his mother at 10.20pm on February 20th. She told police she was locked in her room and was in fear because her son was smashing the house.
When police arrived the defendant was holding a knife and was highly agitated. Spenser was shouting and swearing and making threats of violence.
Negotiators attended and calmed the situation and Spenser was subsequently arrested.
His advocate said the defendant had been out drinking and could not recall much of what happened. Mr Moyle said it was obvious Spencer had an alcohol problem, and in addition to the suspended sentence he imposed a two year supervision order.
