Changes to dental charges

Dental patients in the Isle of Man will soon notice changes in the way they are charged for NHS treatment.

There will be winners and losers as some costs come down and others go up.

The entire charging regime is to be transformed from April the first, when the Island's NHS dentists start new contracts.

The current 400 different charging methods will be reduced to just FOUR!

In Tynwald today Health Minister Steve Rodan warned they would be "mayhem and utter confusion" if members did not back the new regulations.

He says the old system of an "item-per-service" charge had become bad practice:
