An original Manx Electric Railway carriage - more than a century old - is falling into disrepair as it continues to be used as a works vehicle.
The information was revealed in a Tynwald answer to Douglas North MHK John Houghton about the fate of Tunnel Car No. 7.
The car has been used for transporting materials to Dhoon where track repairs are underway - but its varnish, paint and fittings have all suffered.
The cost of refurbishing the "indoor car" which dates back to 1894, is put at ?25,000.
There are no plans at present to source a more suitable works vehicle.
