Minister may intervene in pay dispute

by isleofman.com 24th March 2006
The Department of Education says it will consider getting involved in the university lecturers’ pay dispute in the United Kingdom unless the situation settles soon. Education Minister David Anderson (pictured) replied to a question in Tynwald this week after a one-day strike by unions on March 14. Ramsey MHK Anne Craine asked what representations the department was making to higher education institutions about the strike, which could threaten the success of Manx students. Mr Anderson says universities and colleges are in pay talks with the unions, but that he would act if the disruption continued.
