The Ben-my-Chree has arrived at a Merseyside dry dock but looks to have suffered damage on the trip.
In a photograph sent to Manx Radio from John Luxton of the website irishseashipping.com, the top of the vessel’s bridge seems to have been crushed on one corner.
Mr Luxton says in order to get into the dock, the ship would have to pass under two bridges and said it may have collided with one.
A spokesman for the Steam Packet Company said it wasn’t clear how the damage had been sustained, but it would be investigated.
