Care home costs

by isleofman.com 25th March 2006
North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson says the government urgently needs to tackle the growing gap between pensions and care home costs for the elderly.

In the House of Keys on Tuesday, he is due to ask Health Minister Steve Rodan how much the DHSS can put towards nursing home costs and whether care providers in the Island had warned the department they wouldd have to make massive price hikes this year.

Mr Henderson says the real problem is a lack of forward planning by the DHSS, which he says could have anticipated this issue.
