Merry Millers seal promotion

by isleofman.com 25th March 2006
Union Mills are celebrating after clinching promotion. The CFS Division Two leaders sealed what has been predicted for some time with a 3-0 home victory over Malew - Steve Quine and David Thommeny were among the scorers. Braddan remain favourites for the other promotion spot but were held to a 2-2 draw by fast improving Onchan. Daniel Bentham and Darren McGuinness scored for the home side, with Shane Larkin and Gary Burns replying for Braddan. Colby still have an outside chance after ending the Police’s own faint hopes with a 1-0 win at their opponents. Michael were pushed all the way by basement battlers Jurby before winning 3-1 at Balleira Road. Goals from Michael Perks (two) and Danny Chalk sealed victory with Phil Quayle on target for the visitors. A Nigel Moody hat-trick helped Corinthians to a 6-1 win at lowly Ronaldsway. Moody was joined on the scoresheet by Rob Bentley, Mark Christian and youngster Kyle Jones, with Rob Bell on the scoresheet for the Rockets. The match between Pulrose and Douglas and District was abandoned after an hour when torrential rain caused large pools of water to form on the pitch. Pulrose led 5-0 at the time but the match will be replayed.
