Old Boys and Marown’s bid to beat the drop is set for a collision course next weekend.
This after both clubs won on Saturday.
Old Boys beat already relegated Castletown 4-0 after two goals apiece from Sean Gavin and Darren Hudgeon, while Marown gained their third successive league victory with a surprising 7-0 thrashing of Ramsey, courtesy of goals from Martin Reilly (two), Johnny Barton, Juan Killip, Andy Quayle and two own goals.
Just a point separates Marown and Old Boys who are due to meet next weekend.
Gymns are all but safe after a superb 5-1 win at Ayre United, who remain anxiously looking over their shoulders.
The Tromode club sealed a memorable win with goals from Ciaran McNulty (two), Neil Teare, Peter Dunn and Kieran Iveagh.
Ayre’s consolation was scored by Jason Craine.
At the other end of the table, Peel moved to within a point at the top of OSA Division One after a 2-0 home victory over ‘old firm’ rivals Rushen.
A goal in each half from player-manager Chris Hawke and Callum Gallagher secured an important three points.
St John’s produced a fitting finale in Paul Truman’s final match in charge of the club with an excellent 3-2 victory over St Mary’s.
The Saints, whose hopes of a second place finish have now surely gone, led 2-1 at the break through Liam Cowin and Steve Priestnal.
But St John’s won the day with goals from Mark Tully and a double from Liam Harrison.
Elsewhere, Island internationals Chris Bass junior (two) and Callum Morrisey were on target as reigning champions St George’s beat Douglas Royal 3-0 at Glencrutchery Road.
