OFT to investigate care costs

The cost of providing care for the elderly in Island nursing homes is to be investigated, the Council of Ministers has announced.

It comes on the day North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will urge the government to tackle the growing gap between pensions and care home costs.

In the House of Keys, he will ask Health Minister Steve Rodan how much the DHSS can put towards nursing home costs and whether care providers in the Island had warned the department it would have to make massive price hikes this year.

Mr Rodan (pictured) says the Council of Ministers has called in the OFT to conduct the inquiry:
