Government spending

There’s been a warning from the head of a team looking into the structure of government that departmental belts may need to be tightened – and this could impact on services.

Robert Quayle, chairman of the review team examining the structure and scope of government says while the economy has gone well, extra services have been set up.

But with the possibility of cloudy skies ahead, he says these extra services could face cutbacks if cash needs saving in future.

Mr Quayle says services not usually provided by governments could be first in the firing line:
