Police Sergeant John Manley, prosecuting, said the defendant was ejected by security staff from Strand 58 because of his aggressive behaviour.

Deverau remained outside swearing and shouting abuse, and subsequently hit a security member who was no involved in ejecting him. The man sustained serious nose injuries.

The defendant ran off when police arrived, but he was detained further down the street.

He was shouting and swearing at police, who found him to be drunk.

He told police he had no recollection at all of the incident, and he did not remember being in Strand 58.

He was bailed until April 18th with a condition that he doesn't enter on-licenced premises.
