We must learn from Chernobyl

by isleofman.com 29th March 2006
Celtic League chief Bernard Moffatt says lessons must be learned from new research into the effects of the Chernobyl disaster to protect the Island’s population from any potential incident at Sellafield.

Figures presented by Dr John Urquhart in the UK this week show large rises in infant mortality where the fallout cloud passed overhead in 1986.

Mr Moffatt says this should alert the government to the danger of underestimating pollution from nuclear fallout.

And he says Dr Urquhart’s research contains a grave warning about the effects a nuclear accident could have on the Isle of Man.
