Noden sentence adjourned

by isleofman.com 30th March 2006
Sentence on a 30 year old man has been adjourned by the High Bailiff for reports.

Simon Noden of Mona Drive, Douglas admitted seven offences and making false statements to obtain social security benefits.

Rachel Braidwood prosecuting said the defendant was on a jobseekers allowance, but it was discovered that he was being paid cash to work part-time on a house in Port St Mary which was being renovated.

Noden failed to inform the Department of Health and Social Security about the payments, and Miss Braidwood said as a result the defendant had been overpaid the sum of ?5,422, but this had since been reduced to ?582 with instalment payments.

His advocate asked that the defendant look at that figure again because it could be that Noden was entitled to other benefits.

He was bailed to April 18th
