Douglas coastguard team were called out twice yesterday evening (Wed).
The first incident was around 5.30pm following a report of a possible human bone which was partially buried on Douglas foreshore.
The team found the item and uncovered it and a police forensic team carried out an examination which revealed it to be from an animal.
Shortly afterwards the coastguard team was diverted to a report of possible sighting of a person in the water beneath Marine Drive Cliffs.
Douglas lifeboat was also called out. A coastguard office was lowered partway down the cliff and spotted the object around 100 yards offshore. The lifeboat was directed to the object which was found to be a partially submerged lobster pot.
