Parade select committee

by isleofman.com 30th March 2006
The Tynwald select committee examining the future of an historic Castletown building will resume hearing evidence today (Wednesday).

It centres on controversial plans to refurbish the former home of battle of Trafalgar hero, Captain John Quilliam, and demolish connecting buildings.

Site owner Auctor Ltd - which wants to create commercial office development - applied for permission to restore and refurbish Balcony House (pictured).

However, Auctor also applied to restore, refurbish and add a single storey extension to 6A The Parade and demolish number 5 to replace it with a three-storey building.

That proposal was refused permission.
