Youth Cycling Tour entries hit 100

by isleofman.com 30th March 2006
Entries have hit the 100 mark for the Isle of Man three-day youth cycling tour.

Not only are number up on last year, but organisers have also been boosted by the news Greenlight Television is to produce a highlight programme for broadcast at a later date.

At this stage Race Director Oliver Last won’t reveal which channel will show the footage, but he has said it will be transmitted across Europe.

The tour – from April 28th to 30th – has attracted a three-rider squad from Holland as well as the Welsh National Youth Squad, most of the British Cycling talent teams, a large contingent from Scotland and many other up and coming stars. Much interest will surround Mitchell Heunders, a member of the Dutch team, who won one of the rounds of the Junior World Cup Cyclocross series.

Entries close on April 9th and the race begins at 7pm on Friday April 28th with the prologue on Douglas Promenade. Next comes the road race on Saturday, over a course in the Ellerslie area – the younger riders setting off at 10am followed by the juniors at 2pm. The programme concludes with a circuit race at the National Sports Centre on the Sunday, starting at 10.30 a.m. and this is followed by the prize presentation.
