Flooding problems

by isleofman.com 30th March 2006
The Mountain Road has been closed this evening (Thursday) and will remain shut until Friday morning.

The decision was taken as a 'precaution' after parts of the Island were hit by flooding on Thursday lunchtime and more rain was forecast overnight.

The road is shut between the Hairpin and the Bungalow.

Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown were the worst hit this afternoon.

The high tide was higher than expected due to the low pressure, storm surge and strong southwesterly winds.

West Quay in Ramsey (pictured) and both Quays in Douglas inner harbour were affected.

Waves also broke over the Promenade in Douglas, mainly in the Loch Prom area.
