Criminal damage on the rise

by isleofman.com 31st March 2006
The rising levels of Criminal damage on the Island are a cause for concern.

Home Affairs Minister John Shimmin says whilst the Island remains a very safe place to live, increasing spates of vandalism in certain areas are a worry and need to be identified by the localised policing initiative.

Mr Shimmin will be launching a Criminal Justice Bill in the Keys next week which makes alcohol an aggravating rather than mitigating factor in an offence.

Whilst there may be a general perception that there are fewer front line officers, he says in fact there has been a change in the way the Island is policed.
