by isleofman.com 12th April 2006
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari have had their worldwide assets frozen, including companies in the Isle of Man. An Accountability Court in Rawalpindi ordered assets and bank accounts frozen while it investigates more allegations of corruption against the pair. In the Isle of Man both have fought bitterly through the courts to prove Manx companies used to buy property in the United Kingdom weren’t laundering money. The couple’s worldwide holdings could total as much as $1.5 billion. The court also ordered all properties in Pakistan to be confiscated.
