by isleofman.com 1st April 2006
There were no big surprises in the semi finals of the Dorchester Maritime Manx Cup as the big guns of Douglas and Vagabonds crushed Castletown and Ramsey respectively. At Port-e-Chee, back row forwards Pete Moorhouse and Nick Horsthuis were the stars for Douglas, racking up seven tries between them in Douglas’ 95-0 win. In addition to Moorhouse’s four and Horsthuis’ three, there were also tries from Richard Forster, Matt Dyson, Rob Todd, Martin Higgins, Trevor Christian, Pak Bregazzi, plus a brace from Seb Jeanneau. Dave Wood also kicked 10 conversions. At Mooragh Park, there was also a one sided encounter as Vagabonds beat Ramsey 66-5. Youngster Will Keenan got Ramsey’s try in only his second appearance for the first team. Midge van Vuurren led the way for Vagas with two tries and there were also touchdowns for Bryan Kennaugh, Daryn Thompson, Sam Egan, Ewald Kilian, Rob Martin, James Clarke and Aneurin Pritchard. Jonny Beckley notched eight conversions.
