Measles could be a threat

An Isle of Man GP is expressing concern that a significant number of children are still not receiving the MMR vaccine.

Dr David Chalmers has spoken out following the recent death of a 13 year old boy in Britain who had not had the combined measles, mumps and rubella immunisation.

It is the first measles death in fourteen years.

Take up rates of MMR in the island are still well below what they were before concerns arose over links with bowel disease and autism - which have since been discredited.

Dr Chalmers says current vaccination levels could present a risk to the wider public:
