Chief Constable Mike Culverhouse (pictured) has apologised to former Manchester police inspector Roy Redmayne for the length of time it took Manx police to investigate a complaint.
Mr Culverhouse was appearing before a select committee looking into a petition of grievance about police complaints procedures.

Mr Culverhouse was giving evidence to the committee this morning, and said he aimed to investigate ninety per cent of complaints within a hundred and twenty days.
Mr Redmayne’s complaint took two years to investigate, and Mr Culverhouse said this was because of extraordinary demands on the force at that time.
A number of officers had been suspended, outside forces were investigating some serious complaints and the workload in general had increased.
But Mr Culverhouse said he wanted to offer his apologies to Mr Redmayne for the delays in investigating his case.
