Good news for golfers

Isle of Man golf fans are in for a treat! Plans are in the pipeline for a ?1.6 million rebuild of the club house at Douglas Golf Course.

Last year's flooding destroyed two fairways and saw more than 200 club members leave in search of better facilities.

The grounds have now been re-landscaped in a project using 150 tonnes of infill and ?9,000 worth of turfing. Now attention is turned to the clubhouse.

If plans are approved, work could be underway by September with the new facilities ready late next summer.

Leisure Services Chairman David Christian says the existing timber club house has reached the end of the road:
