Walker injured

Port Erin coastguard were called to the rescue of a 59 year old walker who broke his ankle on a coastal footpath yesterday.

The man, from Douglas, was walking along the Scarlet footpath with a woman from Foxdale when he fell from a stile.

The accident happened halfway between the old lookout and Pooil Vaaish Quarry at 2.30pm.

Members of the coastguard carried him by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.
