Open top horse tram parade for Games team

by isleofman.com 12th April 2006
The most successful Isle of Man Commonwealth Games team ever is to be honoured with an open top horse tram parade from the Sea Terminal to the Villa Marina.

The tribute will take place ahead of the Sports Awards evening on Thursday 20th April.

Prior to this year's gathering in Melbourne, the Island had claimed a total of six medals since it's debut in 1958. In Australia, cyclist Mark Cavendish struck gold and shooters David Walton and Trevor Boyles took bronze.

Tourism Minister David Cretney (pictured) says it's important for the Government and people of the Isle of Man to recognise outstanding achievements:-
