Freight operators whose vehicles weigh more than seven and a half tonnes may soon need new licences. Replying to a question in the House of Keys, Transport Minister Phil Braidwood admitted regulations due to have been introduced under the Transport Act 2001 had not yet been drafted. He told North Douglas MHK John Houghton regulations would first have to be put together for three and four axel lorries. He said eventually more rules would be drawn up for operators, covering vehicles, drivers’ licences and the way freight companies were run.
