DoLGE keeping an eye on Sellafield

by isleofman.com 12th April 2006
Plans for a new nuclear power station at Sellafield are being watched closely by the Department of Local Government and the Environment.

DLGE Minister John Rimington (pictured) says he doesn’t necessarily oppose plans for a new plant there, but the situation will need to be monitored.

At present, the proposals are in their earliest stage and Mr Rimington says of more concern is the existing nuclear waste storage facilities.

But he says if the new power station gets the go-ahead, the department will need to look closely at the plans.
