No care workers on blacklist

by isleofman.com 12th April 2006
There is no DHSS blacklist for people who have worked in the private care sector, according to Minister Steve Rodan.

Responding to a question from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson in the House of Keys, he said recruitment processes are transparent and open.

However, Mr Rodan said a new compulsory register of care workers is to be set up in line with proposals in the UK.

If there were concerns about the way a member of staff had behaved in previous employment, they could be removed from the register and so prevented from working in the care sector.
