Tynwald responds to pay critics

by isleofman.com 12th April 2006
The Tynwald Emoluments Committee has responded to criticism about pay rises for Tynwald members.

Earlier this week, politicians faced protest at two increases – both above the rate of inflation.

However, committee chairman, Speaker of the House of Keys, Tony Brown, (pictured) says members have not abused their position by changing their pay structure.

Mr Brown says the increases are in line with a formula agreed by Tynwald in 2004 and follow recent civil service pay rises.
