The news has delighted MHK Tony Brown (pictured) and the town's commissioners who voiced their concern after the main southern divisional headquarters was transferred to the new Port Erin station six years ago.

While the Castletown building has been manned in the daytime since then, it will be fully operational once more from May the second.

Mr Brown had long expressed concern about the situation and fought f to have the station properly utilised.

He says the new policing initiative, to revert to community policing, is the correct way forward and praised the constabulary for ensuring the police will again play an integral part in the community.
