New freight licences might be needed

by isleofman.com 13th April 2006
Freight operators could soon need new licenses if their vehicles weigh more than seven and a half tonnes.

Replying to a question in the House of Keys, Transport Minister Phil Braidwood (pictured) admitted regulations which were to have been introduced under the Transport Act 2001 have not yet been drafted.

In response to the question from North Douglas MHK John Houghton, he said regulations would first have to be put together three and four axel lorries.

Eventually, more rules would be drawn up for operators covering vehicles, drivers’ licences, and the way freight companies are run.
