Reassurances for Bretney residents

by isleofman.com 14th April 2006
The Department of Local Government and the Environment is reassuring residents of the Bretney estate in Jurby about the impending upgrades to their homes.

In a newsletter, DLGE explains issues surrounding ‘decants’, or moving residents out temporarily while work takes place.

Kate Skinner reports (audio file attached):

The Department says residents have to move out for health and safety reasons as well as to reduce disruption while work on roofs, gutters, walls and doors is carried out.

Residents will have cookers and washing machines reconnected, keep their phone number, have post redirected and have oil bills paid during their stay.

Plans are in place to make sure tenants are only away from their homes for between four and six weeks.

DLGE says any residents with ideas or suggestions for the modernisation of the estate, or anybody needing more information can contact housing officers on 685955
