by isleofman.com 14th April 2006
Former Second Deemster, His Honour Henry Callow, has died, aged 79. He had been ill for some time and passed away in the early hours of this morning (Good Friday) at Ramsey Cottage Hospital. He leaves a wife, Elaine. Deemster Callow was a well know advocate in the Island before being appointed High Bailiff in 1969. He held that position for 19 years, and was then Second Deemster until his retirement in 1993. In 1994 he was awarded the CBE. His friend and colleague of over 50 years, Deemster Jack Corrin, says he was a perfect gentleman (audio file attached): Deemster Callow was a former Douglas Town Councillor and Freeman of the Borough, and a former Provincial Grand Master of the Isle of Man Freemasons.
